After crossing the finish line of the Disney Princess Half Marathon, all I could do was just stop in amazement. I was amazed at what I had just accomplished, I was amazed at the fabulous, new medal around my neck, and I was amazed at the masses of runners meeting up with their families. The love was in the air!
My husband and son came along for the trip, but had to stay at the hotel because my son became ill the morning of the race. I so wanted them to be there, but I knew the race was no place for them. After walking around the Epcot lot, I made the decision to treat myself to a massage. And boy, was it worth it! Best money I have ever spent.
After the massage I headed back to the Race Retreat tent for the post-race refreshments and gathering. I was surprised to walk in and be greeted with a princess race towel, a pair of pink princess half marathon flip flops, and the best part.....a drink ticket. Can you guess what the first thing I did was? Ran straight to the bar and got a mimosa. Breakfast was included with the Race Retreat, so I helped myself to a little food and enjoyed my drink.
I didn't hang out much long after I ate because I was dying to get back to my family. I couldn't wait to show them my medal. I knew a sick little boy was waiting on his mommy to "come back with the prize" and I did.
