Princess: Pre-Race

Today was the day....The 5th Anniversary of the Disney Princess Half Marathon was here! Me and over 20,000 princesses and princes had been waiting for this day and it had arrived. I woke up at 2:45, got ready, and was out the door by 3:15. The minute I walked outside, all I could think of was "holy humidity." Yes it was humid and gross. Luckily the sun never came out, so we didn't have to worry about high temperatures on top of the humidity. There was a chance of rain, so I was happy that the rain held off. I will take being hot over running in the rain any day of the week.

I purchased the race retreat package with my bib. I just love the idea of having a place to relax before getting to the corrals. I met some lovely ladies from PBRC and chatted with them before heading to the corrals. I also ate half a bagel...just to give me so substance because something to eat was better than nothing.

Everyone had to be in their corral by 5am. Hanging out in the corrals is the hardest part about a Disney race. Time moves so slowly in the corrals. I used the time to stretch a little, do some things on my phone, and then I people watched. From the sheer number of people to the race outfits, there was a lot to take in.

One of my favorite things about runDisney races are how special they make everyone feel. Each corral gets a special send off with the fairy godmother counting down the clock and then fireworks at the gun.  Corral B was counting down quickly after Corral A and then before anyone knew it, we were off.
