So with my new found leg pain, I have been contemplating what to do about the First Watch Sarasota Half Marathon. The race is this Sunday. I have gone over the scenarios a thousand times in my mind. I talked to my husband and then to my physical therapist. Everyone has an opinion about what I should do. So what's a girl to do?
Well, I can scrap the race completly and not go at all. Talk about a major let down. First I want that medal and second this was supposed to be the race that I was actually going to "race." Last month at Princess, I didn't push myself to the limit. Disney's Princess Half marathon was all about experience, not time. If I don't go, I also lose out on my race fees. This concept annoys my husband, Mr. Numbers Cruncher. I hate to the waste the money too, but isn't my health/leg more important than some stupid race fee. Well this Pavement Princess doesn't think so (at least for the moment).
With that being said, I decided to switch my half marathon entry to the relay. I found someone on FB that was looking to pair up for the relay. I will only be doing the first 6 miles, although they are bridges, so I'm hoping that my leg will hold up. I feel confident that I can do 6. I have been icing and elevating all week. My pain seems to be gone right now which is great! Hopefully they will stay at bay. After the race, if the pain comes back then it will be MRI time, but for now it's time to get ready for a race!
