When I started running, I didn't have a fitness closet. In fact, whatever was in my closet was what I would run in. Looking back now, it was horrible. I was running in over-sized cotton t-shirts and pants. The word "wicking" wasn't in my vocabulary. About two months into my running journey, I realized that cotton was a no-no. So I have been slowly adding to my fitness closet. I will say...it becomes addicting. Sometimes I feel like I'm adding more clothes to my running collection, than my real everyday, work clothes collection.
So here's my fitness closet. I'm completely embarrassed that it's not a closet at all. It's a bin in my laundry room. This bin is practically busting at the seams, so it may actually need to start hanging this all up in a closet (or at least move it to a bigger bin).
Here are a few of my favorite race shirts. My 2013 Disney Princess Half Marathon shirt, my 2013 Sarasota Half Marathon & Relay shirt, and my 2012 Run Palm Beaches shirt are the shirts I tend to wear the most. My bin is filled with lots of race shirts. Some I love and some I have never even wore.
For shirts, I never really race in a race shirt. I use them mostly for when I workout or do my training runs. When I do race, I prefer to run in one of my many GapFit Motion T's. I love how they fit and I wick away the sweat. I also love all the different colors they come in. I'm still adding to my collection any time they go on sale.
For bottoms, I tend to alternate. When I first started revamping my running attire, I gravitated towards the running skapri (skirt and capri in one). I have two from RunningSkirts that I love and two Nike Skapri's from their running collection. I just love how I can feel cute, but yet still covered. Out of my collection, my favorite is the gray/purple Nike skapri because the fabric is super soft.
A few months ago, I decided to incorporate some skirts into my #fitness closet. My collection may be small, but I'm becoming a huge fan of the skirt. If you are looking for a skirt, I recommend RunningSkirts or SparkleSkirts.
For sports bras and coverage for "the girls" I love my Lululemon turbo tanks. They were part of the yoga collection, but I turned them into my #1 staple for running. I love how long they are and they feel "free" instead of being constricted by a sports bra.
When it comes to shoes, I'm a shoe lover. I love lots and lots of shoes. I prefer to be in flip flops any day of the week, but when I run, I only run in Brooks. When I got real about this whole running thing, I went to my local Fleet Feet store and was put into the Brooks Ghost 4. I have loved the Brooks brand ever since. In fact, just this month I upgraded my 4's and bought the Brooks Ghost 5.
I have many more items that fall into my #fitnesscloset from socks to compression sleeves, and from visors to headbands. I continue to grow this closet of mine. It would be hard to pick a favorite from my closet. What about you? Do you have a favorite from your fitness closet?
