Plank a Day Challenge

Lately I have been noticing a trend on Twitter....plank, planks, plankaday, etc, etc. I have done planks before at yoga, but it was something I left on the mat. I don't really know why, I just did. So all the plank hype has me drinking the kool-aid. I decided to take the #PlankADay challenge. 
Day 1 I only did 30 seconds. Be prepared for your body to shake. Today was Day 2 for me and I made it to one minute. Still shaking and baking, but I focused on my breathing when it started to hurt and I think that's how I got farther today. I will say...I'm already feeling it and it feels so good.

                                                       

So I know what you're thinking....why plank? First off, have you seen my abs? Probably not (thank goodness), but they are in need of a tune up. The plank is "the" exercise that works your abs more effectively than other other exercise around. In order to support your body during a plank, each and every one of your abdominal muscles have to work together in sync to support your body. Your abs won't be the only part of your body to get a workout either. Your glutes, shoulders, arms, and legs get a chance at being toned up depending on the kind of plank you do.
