Weekly Workout Rewind: Week of July 29th

Happy Sunday everyone! It's time for the latest Weekly Workout Rewind post.

Are you a numbers person? The kind where you notice specific numbers than mean something to you? Well this week was all about the numbers for me.
This week was Week 10 of marathon training. I'm half way through my twenty week training plan. Also, my longest run this week was the half marathon distance. See the pattern here....I am at the half way point of training doing the 13.1 distance which is half way to a full marathon. I also managed to log 26 miles this week, which I thought was kind of cool on my way to training for 26.2. Yes I know I'm a dork for this whole numbers game I'm playing in my head.

So let's rewind and see how things went this week....

Monday: 4 mile run
Tuesday: 45 minutes on the elliptical
Wednesday: 5 mile run
Thursday: Rest
Friday: 4 mile run
Saturday: 13.1 mile run
Sunday: Rest

Guess what? I took my very first ice bath after my long run. I used one 20lb bag of ice...next time I'll use two of these bags. Yes it was cold, but it was worth it because today I feel great. I'll be adding ice baths to my long runs from now on.
This week also marks less than 4 weeks until the Dumbo Challenge at Disneyland in California. After this week's back to back runs, I'm feeling so ready for Dumbo.
So how did your week go? Are you training for anything specific right now?

    1. That's awesome! It definitely was cold, but I agree about it being worth it. Today I feel so great and normally I would be sore.

  2. Starting training in a week for a half-marathon in December. I am soooo ready to get back into a training cycle after a couple months of just maintaining. I am craving those hard runs!

    1. What race are you training for? I'm so glad that race season is finally upon me. It's nice to have a goal to work on...makes those hard runs worth it. Good luck with your training!

  3. I'm a numbers person too so I loved how everything linedup

Never done an ice bath....so scared too! (plus our freezer doesn't really have room for a big bag of ice).

But did you open the ice bag and dump the cubes out, or just put the bag in the water? And you get in with all your clothes on?

    1. Hi Andrea! I ended up stopping at Publix on the way home from my run because my freezer wouldn't be able to hold the amount of ice I needed.

I got in with all my clothes on and a hooded sweatshirt (the sweatshirt helped keep me warm). I turned the cold water on and when it covered my legs I opened the bag of ice and moved the ice around. It gets cold, but since you've already been in the cold water it's not too bad.
