Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend: The Beginning

This is going to be the first of many posts about my amazing weekend to California for the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge which was part of the runDisney Disneyland Half Marathon weekend. I have so much to share and want to capture as much as I can for you!

Our exciting adventure kicked off on Thursday evening when we flew to California. There is nothing more exciting then the day arriving that you are leaving for a trip. We've all been counting down for months and the day was finally here.
We flew into LAX and the flight was pretty uneventful. The only downside to flying into LAX was being further from Anaheim than we wanted to. We heard the cab ride was going to be about $120, so we opted for the Super Shuttle at only $16 a person. That left me with more money for the runDisney Expo! The downside to the shuttle was how long it took to get to our hotel because it had to stop and at various hotels depending who all was in the shuttle. So after about two hours, we ended up at our hotel, the Hilton Anaheim

I would totally recommend this hotel if you are traveling to Disneyland. The Hilton Anaheim is a "Good Neighbor" hotel and we still felt some of the Disney magic throughout. The walk to Downtown Disney was about 1.5 miles (it really was a short walk). The streets were lined with amazing palm trees and before we knew it, we were at Disneyland. Our view wasn't too shabby either. We had wall to ceiling windows which faced Disneyland and California Adventure. Granted it was the back of the park, we still were able to see the ambiance at night and watch the fireworks too.
Waking up in California was the best! It was sure to be a good weekend and it was time to head to the runDisney Disneyland Half Marathon Expo! Stayed tuned for my expo post!

If you've been to Disneyland, did you stay at a Good Neighbor hotel? Did you mind the walk to the attractions?

  1. I was not a fan of the walk from our hotel...or the hotel in general...granted I didn't pick it either :p next time I'll be doing the planning on my own :)

  3. We were at a Good Neighbor hotel also! The walk really wasn't that bad; more than I'm used to, especially for a race weekend, but really not bad at all!!

  4. We have stayed at the Candy Cane Inn which was GREAT....I mean your basic accomodations nice and clean and free breakfast AND free parking....backs up to DCA! Stayed there twice. Also stayed at a Sheraton a couple miles away our first trip...they had a shuttle it was fine too. We did splurge once and stay at Grand Cali.....oh so worth it! But you know we are always on a budget, so won't happen for a while, well unless we go during rainy season again....talk about convenient!
