Hoping to win the lottery!

Race lotteries are becoming a thing of the present. With the Marine Corps Marathon, the NYC Marathon, and the Chicago Marathon, lottery entries are the only way for some runners to guarantee entry into these amazing races.
I'm going after the Chicago Marathon. It all started over a month ago when I got this crazy idea. I was in the shower (where all my brilliant thinking goes on) and for some odd reason, the urge to look into the Chicago Marathon came over me. I had no clue if I could get in, no clue if registration had come and gone, but I knew I wanted to try. So upon checking, I was pleasantly surprised that registration would be a lottery and I hadn't missed it. Fast forward to today and voila! I'm officially entered into the lottery!
I'm one of thousands of runners eyeing a coveted spot in this race. If it's meant to be, then it will work out. If not, then there's something better on the horizon. Now the wait for the countdown to April 14th begins. That's when emails for the Chicago Marathon will go out to those who entered the lottery. Fingers crossed!

Have you ever entered a race lottery? Were you successful?

  1. I entered the lottery! I was really excited that they didn't charge to enter the lottery, especially since I have terrible luck with lotteries. May the odds be ever in our favors! (Though honestly, if this were a lottery for child sacrifice I probably would've won...)

  5. How fun! I enter the Peachtree Road Race lottery every year, but I haven't entered a lottery for a longer distance race. Good luck!

  7. Good luck! I've never entered a race lottery before and think I would be super nervous in anticipation. I am a major planner, so the wait would drive me crazy.
