#chiMarathon No More

This blog post makes it official. Might as well give you the spoiler alert: I won't be running the Chicago Marathon this year. For weeks I've been having doubts about Chicago. There have been all these little signs and I've been ignoring them. Last Sunday, I talked with the hubs and my mom about whether or not I should still run Chicago. When they both agreed that I should pass, I knew my decision was made. I even gave myself this week to come to grips with it just in case I decided to change my mind. But I won't. And here's why....

There have been two big changes in my life lately. First, I started a new position at my job a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it! I love it so much that I'm putting in longer hours than I ever have before. I know this will pass as I get settled, but for now the demand is there and getting all my attention.

Second, I've been ignoring some health issues for awhile now. More like months. My family has been on me to get things checked out, but I haven't. I've been going with the whole "it's nothing, it will go away" concept and unfortunately it's not. This is the main reason why the #chiMarathon just isn't in the cards for me right now. I need to focus on my health and put my attention into my doctors. I'm sure you want to know more. When I have good news to report, I will! Fingers crossed!!

The dream of the Chicago Marathon will always be there. Covering the big distance of 26.2 miles in a big city like Chicago will still be on my bucket list! Who knows, maybe next year? Only time will tell!
