Time for a Change!

A few weeks ago, I decided to sign up for Weight Watchers. I've been wanting to make a change for a while when it comes to weight loss. Losing weight is so hard and I don't want to want to "diet." Way back in the day during college, I did Weight Watchers for a short period of time and was very successful. So I decided to give it a shot again. 
                                             
Rewind to two weeks ago, when I walked in to my local Weight Watchers location for my first weigh in. I was a "Nervous Nelly" to say the least. I didn't know what to expect, didn't want to see the number on the scale, and I was unsure of how successful I would be. That's why I've been quiet about it on the blog. 
                                              
Well week one was a success. I lost three pounds! Surely, everyone loses weight the first week, right? So here we are on week two. I went in this morning (and yes I still get nervous when I walk in the door), and BOOM....I lost 4.8 pounds!! I couldn't believe it! That brings me to 7.8 pounds lost for the first two weeks. 
                                                
I'm super proud of myself for how well things are going so far. I'm also realistic to know that not every week will be like this. But I'm working hard for it. I'm tracking every single thing I put in my mouth. And more importantly, I'm really thinking about whether or not the food choices I make are the right ones. I've also decided to allow myself a cheat meal on Saturday (the day I weigh in). I don't go all out and gorge myself, but it also gives me something to look forward to!

  1. Awesome. So glad to hear it has been working out so awesome for you. For me it has been full of ups and downs, but overall I am so happy because I feel like I am slowly learning better habits which is my number one goal. 7.8 pounds is amazing!

  2. I have used MyFitnessPal to lose weight ever since January 1, 2012. I started off at 220 and I am down to 172.5. (I have been off and on with trying to lose weight depending on my training schedule.) I used to be very obese and my father-in-law (a doctor) was very concerned about me. He even offered to buy me Jenny Craig but since my wife wouldn't have gotten the chance to cook for us anymore I declined because cooking is her favorite hobby. I didn't use Weight Watchers or anything because we had very, very little money when I started trying to lose weight and I figured that adding another financial obligation would cause more stress (and increase the likelihood that I would engage in emotional eating!). When I first started using MyFitnessPal, I had no faith that I would actually be able to lose weight with it, which is why I didn't take any before and after pictures or really even weigh in when I first started trying to lose weight. I'm so glad that it worked out well for me and I highly recommend it to everyone! It's been a long road, but it's been a good road, and I am at the point in my life where I am making healthy food choices voluntarily because I care about my health and because I want to take good care of my body. I was far from that 3 years ago! I also developed sustainable healthy eating habits that will last me a lifetime. You are doing a very wonderful and courageous thing, and I hope that it continues to work out well for you!
