runDisney Jingle Jungle 5K Recap

It's been a few weeks now and my runDisney Jingle Jungle 5K recap is way overdue! Can't believe how time has flown two weeks ago since I got back from race weekend. I'm not a fan of the 5K. There I said it. It takes me three miles just to get in the groove. But when it comes to a 5K at Disney, I'm a SUPER FAN!

The 5Ks when you runDisney are perfect because it's all about the pictures. And I'm giving you fair warning, this blog post is going to be picture overload!

For this race, my running bestie Maggie and I had been planning our costumes forever. We ran together in February during the Princess half weekend and I had been counting the months and days until I was seeing her again! For this race, we were all about #TeamFrozen! I dressed up as Olaf and she was Sven. How cute were we?
When we arrived at Animal Kingdom the weather was slightly chilly! But it was better than rain! We hung around in the parking lot with our families for a little bit and then around 6:45am we made our way into the corral. We were both in Corral B. The sun was starting to rise and it was beautiful!
Right on schedule at 7:00am, the race started. The wheelchair start was first, then Corral A, and then we followed in Corral B. runDisney always starts their races in an awesome way, but this race also had "snow." It was super cool!
The course starts off on the outskirts of the Animal Kingdom parking lot. There were lots of runners and the course just seemed heavy as we zigged and zagged through people. Then we arrived at the entrance to Animal Kingdom.
We ran all throughout Animal Kingdom. The first character stop was Goofy dressed in a Santa suit. The line was ridiculous and we chose not to stop. He was the only character we missed. We arrived at mile one and came to the next character stop....Rafiki and Timon.
We continued making our way through the park and taking as many pictures as possible! We were having the best time ever!
As we started to exit the park, we came to another character stop (with a pretty long line) and then we were at mile 2.
The last mile of the race was out of Animal Kingdom and back onto the road and parking lot. The sun was fully shining at this point and it was right in our face. So not fun! There isn't much to look at on the outskirts on Animal Kingdom, so I was pleasantly surprised to see more characters on the course! The Pluto stop was my favorite!
This was the last of the character stops, so we were full steam ahead to the finish!
Once we were through the finish, we received our runDisney Jingle Jungle 5K medal from the volunteers and then we made our way to get our picture taken from the official race background.
This race was so much fun and that's because I was in great company thanks to Maggie! Every time we get to run together it goes down it the record books for me...not for speed, but for memories. That's what runDisney is about.

After the race, the hubs and I went back to the hotel to get ready for the day! We were looking forward to going to the parks and then running the Wine and Dine Half Marathon. Be on the look out for my race recap...it's going to be an interesting one for sure!

  3. I'm so shocked we didn't run into each other! We started in Corral B and took pictures at every stop except Goofy, too. Great recap!! :D
