Countless days and hours of shopping and then wrapping to prepare for this day are now over. In a matter of minutes, the floor was covered with the remnants of wrapping paper and we have a happy boy. Success!
It's amazing how quickly the opening of presents go by. For me this holiday isn't about the presents. But to watch this holiday through a child's eye, presents most certainly play a big role. As I sit here sipping my coffee and watching my son and husband play the new Playstation 4, all is well with the world (at least for now...ha, ha).
This Christmas is the weirdest one I think we've ever had. For the first time ever, I'm not spending it with my mom. We celebrated together on Tuesday because she flew out to Colorado to spend the holiday with my brother. Somehow not having her here and my brother being stuck out west make this holiday seem incomplete. We're also living in our rental while our new house is being built. Things are just so different then our "normal." My husband also "accidentally" packed all of our holiday decorations in the POD that we used for storage while we build the house. So I have absolutely no decorations up this year. I made things work with an artificial tree and no ornaments, but this holiday season has been different then any other we've had in the past. I keep calling it the "Christmas that wasn't." This time next year though we'll be celebrating the holiday with my whole family in our new house. It will be picture perfect.
Last night for Christmas Eve, we attended a beautiful service at our church and today we will spend time with my husband's family.
How will you be spending this glorious day? Merry Christmas to you. I hope your day is filled with many blessings.
